Legend tells that one night Yací, the moon, came down to earth taking the form of a woman, illuminating the course of the silver rivers. While she was distractedly wandering through the jungle vegetation, she was surprised by the presence of a dangerous jaguar. Fortunately, an elderly Guarani who was passing by saved Yací's life by scaring away the dangerous feline. In gratitude, the moon appeared in his dreams and as an offering gave him an unknown plant, whose leaves, after being toasted and ground, would make a delicious infusion. This is how yerba mate was born, a healthy drink to revitalize the body and share in the community.
